Hot Dogs @ 428

What's a late night out without hot dogs or pizza of some sort? So after lounging at the Bitter End in Gaslamp, we decided to stop by Hot Dogs @ 428 for a quick bite. It's a small, clean, and bright hot dog spot that also sells sandwiches and small salads too. Best thing, it's open till 3am.

There was no long line wrapped around the corner like Pink's in Hollywood or an encyclopedic list of hot dogs either, but Hot Dogs @ 428 did have a few worthy original creations... among them the Diego and Sushi Dogs.

As original as the Sushi Dog sounded, adding wasabi and ginger to a hot dog did not sound appealing... so I opted for the Diego Dog. No frills or surprises, it was exactly like the menu- dog, avocado, salsa, jalapeno, and bun. The salsa and jalapeno definitely gave it a nice kick, but I wish the bun was slightly toasted. Although having a late night hot dog hits the spot, at $4 a piece, that's pretty steep...
